Alternative Objective 2026 Calendar

The 2026 Alternate Objective Photography Charity Wall Calendars have arrived, they are flying out the door quickly. The theme this year is owls, who doesn’t love owls?
100% of the profits from this years calendar will go to Veterans’ House Canada, Edmonton. Their mission is to support Veterans experiencing homelessness. They are building a 40 bachelor suite unit that will have a social room, fitness room, library, park with covered BBQ area, a community planting garden, meditation park and a service dog area in NW Edmonton. Construction is underway and it will open in 2026. With a price tag of approximately 15 million dollars, they are campaigning to raise 6 million in private donations to complete their funding.
The federal government does a notoriously bad job of tracking veterans’ statistics, however the government recognizes there are 3000 to 5000 homeless Veterans in Canada. With Veterans making up about 1.7% of the population, yet we make up 4.4% of the homeless population. Breaking down the numbers, the Edmonton homeless population is about 5000 people, up 47% in 2024 alone. That means about 220 of them are Veterans.
Veterans House Canada Edmonton will not solve homelessness, but it will enable a few to get off the street, and that is a start.
